I have been working with Richard Greene, formerly of “Hollywood Clout” on WCPT, Chicago Progressive Talk Radio, to put together a website that identifies candidates who support clean energy independence for the United States.

Feel free to go to the site, EnergyIndependentCongress.us, to find out more.

But here are our local Illinois congressional candidates who, according to the site, will do their best to establish our energy independence:

U.S. Senate:

Alexi Giannoulias

U.S. House of Representatives:

7th District – Danny Davis

8th District -Melissa Bean

11th District - Debbie Halvorson

14th District – Bill Foster

17th District – Phil Hare

Jesse Jackson, Jr.

Dan Lipinski

Mike Quigley

Jan Shakowsky

Dan Seals

Special Mention: 6th District - Benjamin Lowe — Our local Congressional candidate did not get endorsed on the site, due to time-constraints. However, having perused his book wherein he espouses environmental stewardship based on Judeo-Christian principles, I believe he has the wherewithal to help bring about energy independence. We only need to support and vote for him.

If you plan to vote for Energy Independence on November 2nd, join the Energy Independent Congress email list (fill out and submit the form) and check out the Energy Independent Congress Facebook page.

Judges make all kinds of decisions, from the very personal, such as child custody decisions, to those with much broader impact.

Are you ready to choose your judges?

Are you ready to choose your judges?

Judges make all kinds of decisions, from the very personal, such as child custody decisions, to those with much broader impact. The decisions that judges make affect our lives, both directly and indirectly, often for many years to come. We never know when a judge we vote for today, will make a decision that will affect your life and the lives of your family and friends.

It is our responsibility to vote for judges we can trust to make impartial decisions based on their fair consideration of the facts and law. In some cases, this means that judges may make unpopular or controversial decisions. We need to trust that our judges can make those right decisions without regard to political or economic pressure. That’s why it is so important to vote for qualified people to be judges.

The Alliance of Bar Associations for Judicial Screening has created a website, VoteForJudges.org and this downloadable guide (which you can print and bring in to the voting booth) Vote For Judges Guide to help you make these important decisions.

Here is a quick summary of some judges up for election or re-election in our area. If a candidate failed to participate int the voteforjudges.org evaluation process, they earned a rating of NR – Not Recommended. The full report is available at http://www.voteforjudges.org/Alliance_ballot_order_2010_General_election.pdf
